IN LOVING MEMORY OF
O'Della Mae
Arnold
January 16, 1933 – April 27, 2020
O'Della Mae Arnold, 87, of Springfield, Missouri, died at 12:20 PM, Monday, April 27, 2020 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO. She died of natural causes and entered Heaven's gates very much on her own terms with family and loved ones by her side.
She was born January 16, 1933 in Crookston, Minnesota, to Philip and Regina Prudhomme. She married Floyd Arthur Arnold on July 10, 1976 in Duluth, MN and he survives. O'Della previously married to Norman Francis Stainbrook on October 16, 1951, and he preceded her in death.
A loving mother and homemaker, O'Della was a remarkable cook, seamstress and a lover of knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays and always made sure her family was well supplied with slippers, quilts, hats and mittens and anything else that could be made. In the years leading up to her passing, she volunteered for several organizations making clothes and necessities for those less fortunate. She especially enjoyed sewing bibs, burping cloths, and clothes for the newborns during that time. She also enjoyed gardening; no matter where she lived the yard and house were always filled with beautiful flowers and plants. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose greatest love was doing and caring for them and those around her.
Her professional career almost always involved working with people. She had worked as a teacher's aide, nurse's aide, governess, a cashier and even in retirement she worked at McDonalds. She enjoyed the caregiving and social enrichment aspects of those jobs and did them with a level of happiness and proficiency that was beyond compare.
Also surviving are her brother, Herman Joseph Prudhomme of Crookston, MN, three daughters, Jacalyn Wiertzema of Strafford, MO, Julieann Spangler (Kenny) of Springfield, and Jannelle Kluch (Jacob) of Sun City West, AZ, and one son, Jason Stainbrook, of Duluth, MN. O'Della is also survived by her stepchildren, Rodger Arnold (Kari) of Rapid City, SD, and Sheryl Boisjoli and David Arnold, both of Duluth, MN. O'Della spoiled nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will all miss "Mimi". Her parents, brothers Donald and Teddy, and one stepson, Kenny Arnold, preceded her in death.
Della grew up in and around Gentilly and Crookston MN. Later she moved to Silver Bay, spent many years there, then relocated to Duluth MN. After being a resident of northern MN all her life O'Della and Floyd, upon retirement, sadly said goodbye to their cabin and their apartment in Duluth. They then became longtime residents of Springfield MO, where she and Floyd lived at the same address for more than twenty years. They became beloved fixtures in the neighborhood, the church, various organizations, and groups. She touched many people and some in profound ways wherever she went. She left lifelong friends and remembrances wherever she went and will be dearly missed by those who knew her or had the good fortune to cross paths with her. She had a story a quick retort for nearly any situation. She was fond of saying, "Life is too short, enjoy it while you can."
