Obituary

Nova Verl Babb was born May 22, 1913 in Hay, Washington (Whitman County), the son of Thomas E. and Lela Harryman Babb.

Mr. Babb was a lifelong high school teacher, five years in Missouri (Seymour, Lockwood and Nixa) and 34 years in Belleville, NJ, where he was head of the Science Department for 26 years.

He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Springfield Missouri in 1931; Southwest Missouri Teachers College (now MSU) in 1934; and Columbia University, New York City in 1939.

He was a member and Elder of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Springfield Audubon Club and the Rose Society of the Ozarks.  He enjoyed golf with many of his friends at Twin Oaks Country Club and was an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Gladys Nash Babb, his wife for over 67 years; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Aulds.  Nova is survived by a daughter, Carol Gasko of Branson, MO, and a son, Robert and his wife, Barbara Babb of Pawleys Island, SC.  Also four grandchildren, John Gasko Jr. of Papillion, NE; James Gasko of Columbus, GA; Robert Babb II of River Edge, NJ; and Jennifer Risser of Elizabethtown, PA; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Gasko of Columbus, GA; Dennis Wood Jr.; Dylan Wood of Papillion, NE, Lauren Aulds; Katherine and Claire Babb of River Edge, NJ; and Ryan and Brett Risser of Elizabethtown, PA.

The body have been cremated. There will be no formal services and interment will be in Maple Park Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
