Obituary

Norman A. "Phil" Phillips, 96, Springfield, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 in Springfield. He was born January 5, 1922 in Versailles, MO. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry for over 20 years. His service time included WWII and Korea. During his time in the Army he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and two purple hearts.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Helen and Doris; a sister, Mildred Shipley; and three sons, Gary, Bobby and Richard Phillips.

He is survived by his daughter Pat Phillips; son, Ron Phillips and step-daughters, Marci Withers and Gayle Compton. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held today, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Springfield National Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any veteran's organization.
