Obituary

Norman Kearney, long time resident of Rockaway Beach and southwest Missouri, passed peacefully in Springfield, with his son Brian at his side.

Norman, born May 25, 1938, in Ocheydan, IA one of five children of his Swiss immigrant mother, Emma Falk. Norman graduated from Hartley, IA schools and entered the US Air Force directly. He served nine and a half years worldwide and finally stationed at Offutt AFB.

Norman married his longest love, Imogene Laverne Newton from a blind date in August 1967 and they had one son, Brian in 1969. Norman and Imogene settled in the Ozarks in 1970 and assembled the properties to create Water's Edge Cottages. With great pride they owned the business for 34 years. Norman served more than 10 terms as a city councilman, and multiple times as Chamber of Commerce President. He was actively involved in tourism and community projects along with long time Rockaway neighbors

Norman and Imogene retired after a cancer diagnosis in 2004. HIs wife Imogene passed in 2007 and he went on to do recognized volunteer work for St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. After learning of his Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2012, he retired and traveled for care with his son. He remained with Brian for the remainder of his life throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.

In keeping with his desires he will be laid to rest with many Rockaway and Ozarks neighbors at Ozark Memorial Park on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM
