Obituary

Norma Dean Tokarczyk, age 93, of Springfield, Missouri passed away July 2, 2025. She was born July 30, 1931, to Elmer Caldwell and Katherine Krause in Kansas City, Kansas.  Growing up on a farm where she lived with her parents, older brother Don and younger sister Arlene, hard work came naturally. Norma's job on the farm included tending to her mother's large vegetable, herb, and flower gardens. She always had 3 to 4 dogs living on the farm and her love for dogs, especially Australian Shepherds, continued throughout her life.

After graduating high school, Norma attended Morningside College where she studied art. She was elected by her peers May Queen of her freshman class.  It was at Morningside where she met and married Leo Tokarczyk. They would live in South Dakota and Kansas City before settling in Springfield to raise their four children Leo Jr., Greg, Sherre, and Ned.

Norma loved flowers, especially roses, and surrounded her house with flowers of all varieties. She loved to sew and make clothes for her 5 grandchildren, Christina, Robert, Leah, Margaret, and Lilli; and 4 great-grandchildren Maykala, Ian, Kai, and Aiya. She was extremely proud of each one of them and always encouraged each one to get a good education.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Jim Oman officiating. Burial will be in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
