Norma Beatrice Meyer, 85, of Springfield passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 29, 1929 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Bernard James and Mabel Rankin. She was married to Donald Lester Meyer on May 7, 1949, who precedes her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Ann Meyer, from Norman, Oklahoma. Norma retired from the Frisco/Burlington-Northern Railroad where she was a member of the National Association of Railway Business Women (NARBW). She was also an avid member of her church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She is survived by her brother, Bern Rankin (Carol) of California and five children: Donna Blevins (Marin) of Columbia, Missouri; Stephen Meyer (Terri) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; David Meyer (Robyn) of Springfield, Missouri; Jeffrey Meyer of Springfield, Missouri; and Cynthia Meyer of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren: Shaun Blevins (Laura) of Hartsburg, Missouri, Amy Clark (Kyle) of Springfield, Missouri, Nicholas Meyer of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Andy Meyer of North Richland Hills, Texas, Jonathon Blevins (Erin) of Columbia, Missouri, and Alyssa Blevins of Columbia, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren: Bryson and Rylie Clark both of Springfield, Missouri. After retirement, Norma's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to play cards with her grandchildren and take them to Silver Dollar City for a day of fun. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 with a prayer service from 5:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri. A funeral Mass will be held for Norma on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett, Springfield, Missouri, with the Reverend Fergus Monaghan officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 4535 W. State Highway EE, Springfield, Missouri.
