Obituary

Norma Annabelle "Ann" Bodenhamer, 86, passed away peacefully at The Manor at Elfindale on December 18, 2009 with family members by her side. Ann was born April 6, 1923 near Butterfield, MO to Pharis C. and Beatrice (Henbest) Sanders. She grew up on the family farm, and graduated from Butterfield High School. Ann married Joseph "Joe" Bodenhamer January 2, 1951 and they lived on their farm together for over 50 years. Ann worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone, now AT&T, for almost 30 years, and was a Lifetime Member of the AT&T Pioneers Group. Ann loved knitting and quilting, and had a green thumb for vegetable & flower gardening. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling Ruth Price, and her husband Joe. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Margaret Campbell and her husband Jack of Strafford, a brother-in-law Charles Kenneth Bodenhamer, and a very special sister-in-law Doris Bodenhamer. Ann's surviving nieces and nephews include: Ruth Ann Price and husband Doug of CO, Mary Sue Price of VT, Tom Price of OK, Lyle Price and wife Karla of OK, Joe Price and wife Corie of WA, Jeanette Mooney and husband Cecil of Springfield, Stanley Campbell of Strafford, Richard Campbell and wife Sara of Strafford, Susan Mitchell and husband Gary of Billings, Shelly Chaney and husband Ken of Marshfield, Steve Bodenhamer and wife Gayle of Springfield, Kevin Bodenhamer and wife Mary of TX, and Clara Bell "Kirby" Kindall and husband Eddie, of Springfield. Ann is also survived by a dear friend, Janie Rand, and a number of great nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, and dear neighbors. Ann was loved, and will be dearly missed. The family deeply appreciates the care and devotion of Terri Hurd, Dwight Hammons, and the entire staff and administrators of the 600 Hall of Elfindale's Memory Support unit, as well as her doctors Dr. Dennis Morrison and Dr. Don Butts. It was Ann's request to be cremated and to lie at rest alongside Joe at Danforth Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 27 at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Nicholson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Ann's love of dogs and one special cat, to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society, 3161 W Norton Rd, Springfield MO 65803, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Springfield, 1538 S. Enterprise, Springfield MO 65804.
