Norma Lee (Rowland) Beverly, daughter of Troy and Lettie (Johnston) Rowland, passed away at her daughter's home on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Norma was born on November 23, 1923 in rural Dallas County, where she worked hard on the family farm and helped take care of her younger siblings until she left for Springfield, Missouri when she was 18. Norma met her husband, Earl Beverly in Springfield, while he was a patient at O'Reilly Army Hospital. They were married on May 12, 1945 in Springfield at the O'Reilly Chapel. Norma worked hard all her life to provide for her family and was essential in maintaining the success of her husband's heating and air conditioning business. Norma devoted herself to her children and husband whom she loved very much and took great pride in the character and accomplishments of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and provided many meals for family gatherings. Norma never met a stranger; she could start a conversation with anyone and had a laugh that was contagious. Her family remembers her as a loving, caring and down to earth person. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Beverly; beloved daughter, Connie (Gorrell) Ostrander; and brother, Lloyd Rowland. She is survived by her daughter, Cyndi Ferguson and husband Mark of Springfield, Missouri; son, Robert Beverly and wife Jan of Lindenhurst, Illinois; grandchildren, John Gorrell and wife Lauren of San Francisco, California, Aubrey Prugger of Springfield, Missouri, Alexandra Lee of Lawrence, Kansas, Sean Beverly of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Anne Vuchinich; brother, Dean Rowland and wife Mattie ; nephews, Mark and Gary Vuchinich, Mike, Terry and Darryl Rowland; great-granddaughter, Maegan Gorrell; and dear friends, Marian Barile, Marge Bonner and others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We loved our Mom and Grandma very much and know that she is now with Earl and Connie. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
