Norma Jean Bailey, 72, of Republic, Missouri, passed away of a broken heart Monday evening, December 16, 2013. The daughter of Imal Runnels Garlock and Otterbein Fermin Garlock, she was born September 21, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri. On June 5, 1960 she married David Eli Bailey. Norma lived in Kirksville for many, many years, and her four children were born and raised in the town. Later on, she and David moved to Republic, Missouri, where David had relocated their crushed limestone business. She is survived by her husband David, her two sisters, Myrna Jo Larkey of Kansas City, MO, and Mary Kay Crnic of Kirksville, MO; two daughters, Jennifer Lee Boardman and husband Michael of Eureka Springs, AR, and Rachel Suzanne O'Hagan of Nazareth, PA; one son, Jeremy Eli Bailey and wife Denise of Springfield, MO; daughter-in-law Theresa Lynne Bailey of Springfield, MO; and thirteen grandchildren, Colleen Bailey Boardman, Keaton James Boardman, Kyla Jean Boardman, Camden Michael Boardman, Jack Joseph O'Hagan, Tyler John O'Hagan, Raymond Eli Bailey, William Randall Bailey, Reed Thomas Bailey, David Eli Bailey, Gabrielle Elizabeth Bailey, Nathaniel Joseph Bailey, and Cecilia Anne Bailey. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Randall David Bailey, who passed away a day before her. Norma was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and an integral part of the family business. Norma displayed selfless devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren, and played a priceless part in all their lives. She loved to work in her garden, sew, and cook for her family.
