Nora Alice (Stegall) Lewis, 87, formerly of Mount Vernon, Missouri passed peacefully from this earth to eternity on December 28, 2020. She was born March 3, 1933 in Pontotoc, Mississippi to James T. and Inez (Bivens) Stegall.

On June 9, 1957 she married Clarence Melvin Lewis in Pontotoc, Mississippi. They eventually made their home in Fresno, California. They adopted two children, Valerie and John.

Nora taught elementary school in Kansas City, Kansas and Merced, California until her children came along. She managed her husband's medical practice until they moved back to Missouri scaling down towards retirement.

Nora enjoyed cooking for others, Bible study and Gospel music. She enjoyed the fellowship around the table with friends and loved ones. Her grandkids were her pride and joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a son, and her husband, Clarence M. Lewis.

She is survived by her sister, Mary (Stegall) Mayo of Meridian, MS, brother John Stegall of Shreveport, LA, a daughter Valerie (Lewis) Lawrence and husband Todd of Republic, MO, son John Lewis and wife Marcie of Fresno, CA, four grandchildren Jack Lawrence, Sarah Lawrence, Brett Lewis, Brittany Lewis and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation due to COVID-19 restrictions. There will be a private burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of life will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:30 am in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
