Nona M. Wentz, 90, Springfield, died at 11:45pm on May 13, 2013 in Mercy Villa after a short illness. Nona was born September 18, 1922 in Alexandria, South Dakota, the daughter of Pete and Mary Kayser. She worked for Northwestern Bell in South Dakota and Iowa and retired from Dillard's Department stores in Springfield. Nona volunteered for several years at St. John's Hospital. Nona was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Raymond Wentz, her grandson, Seth Ballout, great-granddaughter, Autumn Ballou, and a brother, Donald Kayser of McPherson, Kansas. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in law, Bill and Paula Wentz, Bloomington, Minnesota, and Gary Wentz and Helen Kilzer, Loveland, Colorado; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Shanks, Springfield, Mary Jo and Tom Gornick, Portland, Oregon, and Teresa and David Ryan, Aldrich, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred Cink, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Irma Wolford, Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10am in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Fergus Monaghan Celebrant. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery. Rosary will be at 6pm Thursday in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with visitation to follow until 8pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 1570 W.
