Nina Elizabeth Maynard, age 91, of Springfield, MO passed away on May 22, 2011 in the quietness of her home. Nina took pride in her faith, her heritage, her family and her church. Born October 3, 1919, in Wellington, Texas, into a family of ten, Nina was the youngest daughter and the ninth child born to James and Annie De Pauw. She was an accomplished basketball player, skilled as a bookkeeper and typist. Nina was also a successful entrepreneur in a number of businesses and homemaker. She met and married her life's love and partner, Harold W. Maynard in 1943 while working at the Ft. Sam Huston base canteen. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell stories of family and her life in West Texas. Nina was a prolific canner of vegetables and fruits, an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Nina and Harold moved to a small farm just north of Buffalo, MO in 1986 and to Springfield, MO in 1997. She was a member of East Grand Church of Christ where she enjoyed worship, bible study and the ministry of so many friends. Quick to defend her position, positive in the inerrancy of His word, she served the Lord all her days to His Glory and Honor. Preceded in death by her partner in life Harold W. Maynard Sr., her parents, her nine siblings and granddaughter, Joanna Maynard. Nina is survived by her three sons; Harold Maynard Jr. of Ripon, CA, Charles Maynard of Marshfield, MO, Steven Maynard of Forest, Mississippi and daughter Dianna Parker of Springfield, MO., 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and extended family members. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 26, 2011 at East Grand Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the services. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Buffalo, MO.
