Obituary

Neoma Nadene Arnold was born on March 14, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, to Charles and Olive Jane Wise. She peacefully departed this life on June 9, 2024, at the age of 92, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Neoma attended Southwest Missouri State University, where she studied music and elementary education. She began her career as a sixth-grade teacher at Strafford Elementary School. On March 1, 1952, she married her beloved husband, William Louis Arnold. After marrying, Neoma dedicated her life to being a homemaker in Springfield, MO, where she lovingly cared for her family and home. She found joy in cooking, sewing, gardening, and raising her three daughters, Belinda, Lucinda, and Melissa. Neoma was actively involved in her daughters' lives, serving as their Camp Fire Girls leader, homeroom mother, and Vacation Bible School director. Her home was a cherished gathering place for family celebrations, filled with laughter and memories.

A devoted Christian, Neoma was a member of the First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir alongside her daughter, Belinda. She lived her life to the fullest, participating in various organizations, including the Beta Sigma Phi Friendship Sorority, the Garden Club, and the Glenwood Village Neighborhood Association.

Neoma was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 65 years, William Louis Arnold; her parents, Charles and Olive Jane Wise; her sisters, Wilma Romero and her husband Jose, and Norma Jean Mell and her husband George.

She is survived by her three devoted daughters: Lucinda Jane Goetz and her husband Jay of St. Charles, MO, Belinda Mae Arnold of Springfield, MO, and Melissa Ann Scranton and her husband Jeffrey of Springfield, MO. Neoma is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Alexander William Scranton and Amelia Marie Scranton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Neoma Nadene Arnold will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family will forever be remembered.
