Obituary

Nellie Jo "Mamo" Reynolds Nellie J Reynolds "Mamo" 91, Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday a.m., September 20th. Nell, a devoted wife, wonderful mother to her three girls, caring grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren was born February 17th, 1920 to her parents Kate McCullah Wiles and Herman Wiles in Marionville, MO. Over the last near century, Nell graduated from Greenwood High School in 1938 and attended Draughon's Business College shortly after. Nell later married her husband, Wilbert "Webb" Reynolds. During their life together, they successfully owned and operated several businesses (California & Missouri), raised three daughters, and cared deeply for everyone in her family. Nell, known for her quick wit & sense of humor, made her a standout to everyone she knew and came in contact with. It also earned her many friends at her home at the Waterford at Ironbridge. Her neighbors, friends and community will miss her dearly. One of Nell's life passions was to be able to go to the McCullah Wasson Family Reunion. This 121 year long tradition, Nell saw to it-- even a month ago, to make sure arrangements were made so that she would not miss it. She is survived by her three daughters Katy St. George and her late husband Charles, Becky Hartmayer and husband Gary, Patty Mummert and husband Don. Nell's grandchildren include: Chris, Kevin, Scott, Tony, Amy (Gann) and Nick St. George; Todd, Sheryll (Stevens) and Jon and Hartmayer; Stacy (Combs), Jeff and Jason Mummert. Great grandchildren Owen & Ashley Gann; Evan, Nikole and Emilie St. George; Amanda Phillips, Dalton (Briggs), Camryn, Jake, Emma and Max Hartmayer; Beau, Brittney and Brooke Stevens; Abby & Cooper Combs and Grace Mummert. Great great grandchildren include Riley Gormley & Addison Phillips. Spouses of grandchildren, who Nell loved & thought of as her own include Russell Gann, Shannon Hartmayer, Kimberly Hartmayer, John Stevens, Randy Combs, Cherith Mummert and Lee Phillips. The above people were what Nell lived for and what kept her going all these years. Mamo found Joy in her family and recently stated, "it's been a wonderful life." Her family knows that Webb has been patiently waiting for her for ten years and on this past Tuesday, welcomed her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 23rd at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, also at Gorman-Scharpf. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Public School Foundation, 3002 W. Kildee Lane, Springfield, MO 65810, noting that the contributions should be used for school playground equipment.
