IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nathaniel Thomas
Hopkins
March 5, 1976 – February 9, 2022
Nathaniel Thomas Hopkins born 3/5/76 left this world on 2/9/22. Nat attended Greenwood and Lebanon HS and graduated in '94. He was a jack of all trades and worked as a vet assistant, farm hand, and caregiver. He was especially proud of caring for his grandparents in their last years. Nat spent a season cooking meals for his sister's family; employing his philosophy of a little more butter makes it all better. When his chef stent was over, his nieces and nephews protested by boycotting eating their parents' meals. His nephew wonders "Who will now fix my stuff with Uncle NatNat gone?" Nathaniel rode horses before he walked and had a genuine love and talent for training horses and dogs. He always had a Labrador by his side. He was an outdoor enthusiast, especially any activity which involved being at the lake…boating, fishing, jet-skiing, and keeping his nieces and nephews' poles baited. He loved family trips, especially camping and snow-skiing. Nat was an early riser known to text his family with "Good Morning Sunshine" and always began his day sitting outside with his coffee and a Bible verse.
Natty is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Dr. Kenneth and Lenore Knabb; paternal grandparents Dr. John and Martha Hopkins; and his uncle Mark Hopkins. He is deeply mourned by his dog Meltin' Chocolate, parents Thomas Hopkins and William and Ellen Grier; sister Marisa Dewey (Dennis); sister Abby Sylvester (Adam); brother David Hopkins; sister Lacey Hopkins; cousin Christopher Hopkins who was more like a brother; step-siblings Debbie, Richard, James Grier and Shane, Emily, Nate and Ben Hamman; nephews/nieces Soren, Hailey, and Ryan Dewey, Mala, Essence, Mili, Bella, Kalia, Tallula, Makana, Kiana, Izaia, Akira, and Heavenly Sylvester; several special cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. We'll love and miss you forever, Nathaniel. Know you're in our hearts. Tink. Tink.
His Celebration of Life will be Saturday, 2/19/22, 1:30 pm at Central Christian Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of gifts, please donate to Greene County Humane Society.
