Naomi L.
Young
February 25, 1933 – June 2, 2026
Naomi Lorraine Kennemer Young was born to Hershel and Matilda Kennemer and was Paul's older sister. She attended Strafford schools, where she enjoyed her friends and activities, especially home economics classes. After high school, Naomi was proud to have spent several years working in the offices of "The Frisco."
Naomi happily married Bill D. Young two days after her twentieth birthday, wearing an elegant ivory satin dress she had made herself. After a few years, children Greg and Diane completed their family. Naomi’s incredible creativity was expressed in many ways… through the décor in their home, beautiful table settings and varied menus, curated gardens, ceramic painting, and gracious hostess skills. She was an outstanding seamstress and cook – her Apple Crumb Pie and homemade candies were legendary! Naomi spent many hours volunteering at Schweitzer United Methodist Church as chair of the kitchen and altar guilds, and was a dedicated member of her UMW circle and the Homebuilders Sunday School class. Naomi spent over 50 years as an election worker in Springfield and she and Bill greatly enjoyed volunteering with the Springfield Visitors Bureau. They were married until his passing in 2015 — 62 years together – and she remained devoted to her family through it all.
Naomi was also preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by two children: Greg L. Young (Beth) and Diane L. Buffington (Gregg); four grandchildren: Bryant Young (Liv), Drew Young (Shelley), Ashton Morgans (Chris), and Tiffany Morgans (Cameron); and two great-granddaughters: Elsie and Lainey. She also leaves behind beloved extended family members and friends. The family extends its thanks to Springhouse Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice, especially Jennifer, for their care throughout the past four years.
A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice in Naomi’s memory.
