Naomi Genevieve Cavner Clemons was born on November 24, 1921 in Thebes, Illinois the daughter of Clyde and Lula Cox. She died on April 15, 2010 after a short illness. Her family moved to Branson, Missouri in 1930's where she met and married Jack Cavner in 1939. After Jack returned from serving in the Army in the European Theatre during WWII, they settled in Branson and raised two sons, Jack, Jr. and Howard. After nearly 33 years of marriage, Jack died in 1972. In 1974 Naomi rekindled a friendship with a fellow high school classmate from Branson, Arthur Clemons. She and Art were married for thirty-four years and lived in Sacramento, California. Art died in 2009 and Naomi moved to Springfield to live near her son, Howard Cavner, and his family. Naomi was preceded in death by her two wonderful husbands, Jack and Art; her parents, Clyde and Lula; two brothers, Ubert and Ralph; two sisters, Nioba and Elisabeth; and a great-granddaughter, Christen. She is survived by a sister, Ethel Sue Cox-Mason; two sons, Jack Cavner, Jr. and his wife, Anita, son, Jack III (wife, Jennifer), daughter, Hillary, son, Jarrod and four great-grandchildren: Abigail, Joshua, Gabriel and Quincy; Howard Cavner and his wife, Nadia, and daughter, Maral Genevieve; stepdaughter, Becky Matt; and granddaughter, Amy Matt, and grandson, Nick McKnight and his family; the rest of her "boys" Michael Cox, Clyde Mason and Sonny Stewart; many other relatives and friends; and Muffin, her dog. Naomi's family is grateful for the care that The Montclair and the Oxford Health and Hospice provided; and the cards and calls from her many friends. A very special "thank-you" from Naomi and her family to cousin Teresa Thompson for her tender care and friendship. A celebration of Naomi's life will be held at the Branson Christian Church at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 17th, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf and Snapps Bearden funeral homes. Friends are invited to visit the family at the Church after the service. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Sacramento, California at a later date.
