Naoma M. Schien, 94 of Springfield, Missouri passed away at The Maples on September 12, 2011 at 9:08 p.m. She was born Naoma Margaret Reinecker in East St. Louis, Illinois May 9, 1917 to Frank J. Sr and Frances Catherine Hoffman. She lived most of her young adult life in Belleville, Illinois before marrying the love of her life, William Henry "Bill" Schien. Bill was a manager for Taystee Bread Company so they moved several times before settling in Springfield. Naoma enjoyed the company of her "Workout Girls" for many years and you could always find her car parked at the Famous Barr entrance while she walked the mall. She also enjoyed vacationing with Bill in Acapulco when she could get him away from the Amoco Stations. Naoma was a pillar of strength and taught her family unconditional love. She was a natural caregiver which was evident in her mother's,brother's and husband's final days as she cared for them. Naoma was a member of Hope Community Church and loved to attend Sunday and Wednesday worship services for as long as her health permitted. She loved all types of music, but her favorite was Praise & Worship led by Josh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and two sisters; and her husband, Bill on November 6, 1997. Naoma is survived by her son and his wife, Fred and Barb Heimback of Caseyville, IL; three daughters and their husbands, Billie and John Gillespie of Keller, TX, Kathy and Paul Schmid of Coffeyville, KS and Janice and Mike Bauer of Springfield whom she had lived with the past 11 years; nine grandchildren, Steve (Lisa) Heimback, Craig Heimback (Cathy), Tracey (Shane) Lyday, Brian (Kendra) Gillespie, Brad (Tiana) Gillespie, Heather (Clint Mease) Howell, Angie (Shawn) Larsen, Zach (Virginia) Bauer and Nichole Bauer; twelve great-grandchildren, Stevee, Ian, Gavin, Zach, Chloe, Kade, Keaton, Alec, Bella, Jackson, Giselle, Dolce and Tatum; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lexi. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Pastor Gary Hay officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
