Nannie Elizabeth Bohannon Jones Suarez, born February 25, 1917, went home to her Lord on October 15, 2013, in Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Bettie Bohannon; seven siblings: Haynes, Wallace, Betty Lee, Annie Mae, Mildred, Ina Lois and Dorsey; and two spouses, Louis Jones and Leander Suarez. She was born in Smithland, Kentucky and raised in Metropolis, Illinois where she married Louis Jones. In 1948, Nannie and Louis moved to Rolla, Missouri where she worked in a doctor's office, a job she continued after Louis passed away in 1966. In 1973, she married Leander Suarez, and they traveled extensively across the United States and abroad. In 1986, the couple settled in Weeki Wachee, Florida where they enjoyed warm weather, playing bridge and helping to establish Highlands Baptist church near their home.
She is survived by three stepchildren, Tanya Suarez, Linda Suarez Rann (Chuck), and Mike Suarez (Terrie); three grandchildren, Walter Martz, Robert Martz (Amanda Bloomfield) and Matthew Suarez; three great-grandchildren, Jorden, Callie and Wesley Martz; and on the Bohannon/Jones side of the family, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless great-nieces and nephews.
Nannie was beloved by her family and friends. She evidenced her deep Christian faith through her generosity and caring actions that touched the lives of many.
Graveside services will be held in Rolla, Missouri on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be made at gormanscharpf.com.
