Nancy Sue (Grundy)Whitlinger, 68, lifelong resident of Springfield, Mo, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 13, 1952 to S.K. and Norma Grundy. She attended Springfield Public Schools' Delaware, Pershing, and Parkview High School, graduating with the class of 1970.

In younger years, Nancy was an accomplished bowler, like her mother and grandmother before her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, vibrant personality, quick wit and keen sense of humor. You never had to guess what Nancy was thinking.

But above all, she was a loving mother, grandma, sister, and friend. An amazing mom and grandma, Nancy truly went the extra mile to make sure her family was cared for, even into her last days and through her pain. She was always concerned for her children. She fought her fight and ran the race. Now, finally, she is at peace.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joel Whitlinger, and half-sister, Judy Gross of California. She is survived by her sons, Ryan Bullard of Sedalia, and Jake Whitlinger, daughter Melissa Whitlinger, granddaughter Ledgher Whitlinger, brother Jim Grundy and his wife Donnis, all of Springfield, and a nephew Mark Grundy and his wife Karen, of Columbia.

No formal services are planned.

The family would like to give special acknowledgement of gratitude to the staff and administrators of Birch Pointe Health and Rehabilitation and Access Hospice for their professional care and loving support during Nancy's final weeks.
