IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Sue
Voss
July 30, 1955 – October 8, 2016
Nancy Sue Voss was born July 30, 1955 and passed away on October 8, 2016 after a long struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Nancy was a fighter and lost her battle on a beautiful fall day and is with her Lord and Savior in heaven. She was the youngest of five children and was preceded in death by both parents, Robert W. Voss and Marian L. Voss. She proudly attended schools in Springfield where she graduated from Glendale High School and then attended Drury University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She then attended Missouri State University where she graduated with a degree in interior design.
After graduating from college she worked for corporations in Springfield and then found employment with CINTAS Corp. where she worked in the human relations department for several years in Atlanta, Kansas City, and then back to Springfield where she worked tirelessly until her body wouldn't let her work anymore. She wanted to work everyday. Her family can't express enough gratitude to all her fellow associates at CINTAS who supported her during employment and after she had to retire.
Nancy is survived by four siblings, Pamela Trammell (Jim) from High Point NC, Patricia Barber from Shawnee KS, Robert K. Voss (Angie) and Randall C. Voss of Springfield MO. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank Nancy's great friends, Abba Korosic, Linda Wylie, and Debbie Reichert who were so supportive of Nancy through life and her illness. Nancy lived at the Manor at Elfindale for this past year and appreciated her good care especially from Peggy, Courtney and Bradley who were by her side during her passing. Integrity Hospice made the final days of Nancy's life more comfortable and it is most appreciated.
As a lifelong supporter of animals Nancy had a deep affection for dogs whether they be dalmations, yorkies, schnauzers, any breed or mixed breed……any dog…especially her own. She was an avid volunteer with the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri and would spend countless hours writing and addressing thank you notes to donors of the shelter. She did this even during times of her illness when she wanted to help. She felt a hand written thank you note meant so much to the kindness of people who donated to the Humane Society of SW Missouri. Because of her love of dogs a special fund, The Nancy Sue Voss Memorial Fund, is being established in her memory. This fund will be used to pay for adoption fees for those who are willing to adopt, love and cherish a dog but unable to afford the adoption fees. It was her greatest wish that everyone should experience the unconditional love that a dog can give. It is this wish that the family would like to continue. In lieu of flowers make a contribution to the Nancy Sue Voss Memorial Fund c/o Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, 3161 W. Norton Road, Springfield MO 65803. The family is most appreciative…….but, more so, Nancy would be.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Hickory Hills Country Club. Online condolences may be made at www.gormanscharpf.com .
