Nancy L. Richardson, 94, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2015. She was born August 30, 1920 in Walnut Grove, MO to Fred and Maggie King, the youngest of 6 children. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Guy L. Richardson and son, Bobby. Nancy graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1938 and St. John's School of Nursing in 1941. During World War II she served in the US Army Medical Corps in the European Theatre as a 1st Lieutenant. She finished her nursing career at Cox Medical Center. After the war, she met and married Guy Richardson of Springfield. They raised 8 children. Nancy lovingly devoted her life to her family. She is survived by 7 of her children: Alice of Springfield, Barbara Jean (Bob) Corson of Strafford, Mike (Linda) of Springfield, Tom (Ann) of Springfield, Dan (Donna) of Strafford, Larry (Nancy) of Flagstaff, AZ, Mary (Kent) Highfill of Springfield, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, all who will miss her dearly. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care their mother received at Cox South during her final days. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, from 5 to 7 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Saturday at 10:00 am at Maple Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Developmental Center of the Ozarks.
