Nancy Morene Mink Lewis, age 76, of Springfield passed away at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 in Mercy Hospital surrounded by family after a short illness. She got her angel wings and was able to fly and walk in no more pain to Heaven.
Nancy was born in Tulsa, OK February 11, 1940 the daughter of Morris and Jean (Vanzant) Mink. She graduated from Central High School in 1958 and later attended SMSU. In high school she worked for The Gillioz Theatre and later Sedgwick's Furniture Store, and Consumer's Main Office as Secretary. She was a Miss Merry Christmas Candidate for Springfield in 1959. Nancy also worked as a model locally. She worked part-time at Pershing School in the kitchen and for 18 years for Oxford Health Care.
Nancy was united in marriage to Jimmy D. Lewis Sr. December 28, 1959.
She was baptized and was a longtime member of Community of Christ Church. Nancy was just as beautiful inside as she was outside. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. We will remember her always and forever in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Jimmy D. Lewis, Sr.
Nancy is survived by daughter Christina Waggoner and Jerry of Springfield; son Jimmy D. Lewis Jr. of Springfield; grandson Jared Waggoner, St. James, MO; granddaughters, Lindsey Waggoner, Springfield, MO and Chrissie Lewis, Siloam Springs, AR; sister Judy McMahon and husband Tim, Omaha, NE; brother John Mink and wife Carol, Tulsa, OK; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday August 19, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with Elder John Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 1570 W. Battlefield, #110, Springfield, MO 65807.
