Nancy May (Hembree) Dougherty, 75, of Springfield, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mrs. Dougherty was born August 23, 1939 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Hugh R. and Evva May Hembree. On March 5, 1961, she was united in marriage to Jack David Dougherty at the Eldorado Springs United Methodist Church. To that union, two children were born; Lisa Dougherty of Miami, Florida and Jennifer Dougherty of Springfield. Mrs. Dougherty was a music teacher for much of her life, teaching elementary vocal music for 20 years and later teaching piano. She served in wardrobe and chorus at the Andy Williams Moon River Theater in Branson for seven seasons. Mrs. Dougherty is survived by both daughters and four grandchildren: Meaghan, Audrey, Kourtney, and Ryan Minor of Marysville, Ohio. She is also survived by two sisters: Carol Faucett of Republic and Betty Morgan of Waynesville. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Dougherty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, and a sister, Jerry Boon. Memorial services will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 am in Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Bailey-Kirk officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Springfield National Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
