Obituary

Nancy Dennehy Banasik died peacefully on November 28, 2016.

A Springfield native, Nancy was born to Leonard and Louise Dennehy. She graduated from St. Agnes High School and attended SMSU for her undergraduate degrees. She later completed her Master's degree at Drury University and Specialist degree at MU.

Nancy was a life-long librarian. Throughout her career, she worked in public and private libraries, particularly in school libraries on the elementary, middle school, high school, and college level. For many years, she was active in the Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL), Friends of the Library, and the Children's Literature Festival.

Although Nancy enjoyed lunches with her Sigma Kappa sorority sisters and her retired Reed teachers' group, she especially loved being with her grandchildren and vacationing with her husband, Coach Stan Banasik, in Bozeman, MT.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Carol Martin, and son-in-law Barry Oelschlaeger.

She is survived by her children – daughter Chris Oelschlaeger; son Michael Banasik and his wife Julie; son Kirk Banasik and his wife Nancy; son Dan Banasik and his wife Susan; grandchildren Matthew Oelschlaeger, Taylor Banasik, AnnMarie and Allie Banasik, Sean and Jordan Banasik; sister Anne Graykowski; and brother and sister-in-law Dan and Fran Dennehy, all of Springfield.
