N. Juanita Miller Mathes, 82, Springfield, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 in Spring Ridge Assisted Living. She was born March 15, 1932 in Phillipsburg, Missouri, the daughter of Richard B. and Nellie Luthy. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School and Draughon's Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Clover Leaf Dairy, she was a proud owner of a jewelry store, and was the Superintendent for Maple Park Cemetery. Juanita was a dedicated Christian and strong in her faith. She spent the majority of her adult life attending Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church and later attended South Gate Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray K. Miller, Sr.; her second husband, Warren Mathes; a son, Clay Miller; a daughter, Karen Lescard; and two brothers and two sisters. Juanita is survived by three brothers, Lewis, Robert and Preston Luthy; her daughter, Cindy Bruce; grandchildren, Steve McGuire, Mike Scott, Adam Lescard, Dusty Lescard, Krista Lescard and Christina Jones; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Danielle, Mickey, Vincent, Isabel, Austin, Jayden, Sophie, Jozalynn and Meeka; step-children, Ray K. Miller, Jr. and Pamela K. Graves and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday October 10, 2014 in Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
