Obituary

Myron Arthur Jensen October 2, 1937 – October 5, 2025

Myron Arthur Jensen, 88, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born in Hollywood, California, on October 2, 1937, Myron lived a full life rooted in kindness, curiosity, and connection.

He was the son of Arthur William Jensen and Laura Kate Bishop. His younger brother, Floyd Jensen, preceded him in death in 1949. Shortly after turning 18, Myron enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Sondrestrom Air Base in Greenland, where he supported military communications during the Cold War era — a formative experience that began a lifelong career in the communications field.

After completing his service, Myron began working as a radio DJ in Pensacola, Florida. His career evolved over the years, eventually leading him to a position with AT&T, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. His love for radio and communications never waned.

On May 27, 1960, Myron married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Argraves, beginning a 65-year journey filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and partnership. Over the years, he loved reminiscing about the many cars he and Brenda had owned together — each one marking a unique chapter of their lives.

To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Grampy. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda and their children: Brent Jensen and Monda Anderson. He was a proud grandfather to Casey (Kirsten) Jensen, Gerritt (Kate) Brinks, and Cassandra (Manny) Quintero, and a great-grandfather to Wyatt Jensen, Warren Brinks, Freya Brinks, and Julian Quintero.

Myron was an avid reader and a regular at the local library — so much so that the staff knew him by name. He was always in search of a new story or perspective and loved discussing whatever he was reading with others.

He also had a deep love of music, not only as a listener but as a musician. He played the French horn with skill and pride, and music remained a constant thread in his life. He especially enjoyed the sounds of ABBA and many other artists, often filling his home with joyful melodies that reflected his upbeat spirit.

In retirement, Myron continued his lifelong habit of service by volunteering for Support Dogs of St. Louis, an organization dedicated to training service dogs for children with disabilities, military veterans, and others facing mobility or medical challenges. His time with the organization was a source of pride and meaning, reflecting his lifelong compassion for others.

Myron had the rare gift of being able to strike up a conversation with anyone, about anything — and more importantly, he listened. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, gentle heart, and genuine interest in the lives of others. He was endlessly proud of his family and loved nothing more than hearing stories about what they were doing and where life was taking them.

In accordance with his wishes, Myron will be cremated. A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
