Miriam "Sam" (Brown) Langston, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness on April 1, 2016.
Sam was preceded in death by her mother Ozelle (Walker) Brown, father Dallas Brown and brothers Garvis and Harold.
She was a loving wife and mother who cared for her family, friends and strangers with an unmatched dedication and generous spirit.
As a young woman, she graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse, later joined the U.S. Air Force as an R.N. and became a Captain. Sam continued her career at the American Red Cross and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks in Springfield, MO. as both Director and Head nurse of Blood Donations Unit until she retired.
Survived by her husband, USAF (Ret.) Lt. Col. Donald Langston, daughter Donna Holt, Donald's son's Dennis and Andrew, 2 grandchildren and a great grandbaby.
This wonderful lady will be missed!
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 7th, at 2:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with a burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Garden. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 7th, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
