IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred Marie
Willoughby
August 31, 1921 – April 17, 2017
Mildred Marie Willoughby (nee Baum) age 95 of Springfield, was born August 31, 1921, and passed from this life on April 17, 2017.
She was born in Billings, MO to Conrad and Martha Baum. She attended Billings High School and Draughon's Business College before working at Zales Jewelers on the Square. After marrying Gerald Willoughby, she became the full-time wife and mother of 3 girls, Marsha (Charlie) Schatz, Elaine (Gary) Tebbenkamp and Gerra (David) Gentry, all of whom survive. She dearly and was especially proud to be the grandmother to four grandsons and their wives, Brian (Suzanne) and John (Shelisa) Welde, and Joel (Jenna) and Andrew (Candace) Tebbenkamp, and eight delightful great-grandchildren.
She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Peters United Church of Christ in Billings, and a faithful member of St. John's UCC in Springfield her entire adult life. Her parents, her husband of 50 years, and two sisters preceded her in death. Mildred loved to travel, and excelled in gardening, canning, and enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, quilting and other needlework. She was hard working, diligent, valued her independence, and had a keen sense of fairness and determination. These qualities helped her stay in her own home and care for herself until the age of 92.
Visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be at St. John's United Church of Christ at 1110 N.
