Mildred Marie Miller, 89, of Springfield, passed away May 22, 2018. Born in Conway, Arkansas, she married a local boy, George P. Miller, and they enjoyed life together for 50 years until his death in 2000.
Known as Mim to those close to her, Mildred excelled in her many roles as their family expanded through the years. A meticulous housekeeper, Mim enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and playing bridge with friends. She loved reading, using her library card weekly until shortly before her death. Lovingly known as Gammie by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she provided a smile, hugs and cookies for their frequent visits. A prior member of Immaculate Conception Church, she belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Brooks (Richard); sons, Steve (Mindy) and Larry (Therese); grandchildren, Lindsey King (Brad), Jenny Talbert (Mark), Becca Hogg (Kevin), Scott Miller, John Miller, Kevin Miller (Sarah) and Kelly Miller; and nine great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are her sister, Geraldine Mayor and her brothers Paul Thessing (Pat) and Ted Thessing (Nancy).
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A mass to celebrate her life will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Father Fergus Monaghan celebrant. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
