IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred Louise
Eisele
September 2, 1922 – February 22, 2019
Mildred Louise Eisele
Mildred Louise Eisele, lover of art, music, books, travel, friends, dogs, card clubs and hot tea, died peacefully at home in Springfield on February 22, 2019 following a series of strokes. Born in Toledo, OH, September 2, 1922, to William George and Miranda (Halstead) Levans, Mildred graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in art. She married Jim Angelson, with whom she moved to California and reared her beloved daughter, Judy. She then married the love of her life, Dr. Harold Eisele, a surgeon in the Los Angeles area.
In retirement, the Eiseles moved to Douglas County, MO, enjoying life in a lovely stone home deep in a rural holler. After Harold's death, Mildred moved into Springfield, where she became an active community volunteer. She was a docent at the art museum, gave liberally to the Springfield Symphony and became an especially generous donor of time and talent to Ozarks Public Television.
Mildred is survived by her niece and nephew-in-law, Ann (Levans) and Michael Hammack, nephews, David Levans and Paul Levans, Paul's wife, Renee, their two children, Kelly and Scott, her step-daughter, Karen Bostrom, her faithful cairn terrier, Casey, and a devoted group of friends who call themselves "Mildred's Tribe." She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Judy Angelson, her brother, William Levans, and her husband, Harold Eisele.
While not a member of any particular church, Mildred was deeply Christian. At her request, she is to be cremated and her ashes will be inurned with those of her husband at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held later, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
Special appreciation goes to the staffs of the Springfield Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility, Compassus Hospice, her extraordinary friend, Donna Kaye Cotner and to caregivers: Kelly Hiebert and Pam Hunter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ozarks Public Television, the Springfield Symphony, or the Springfield Art Museum.
