Obituary

Michael Dennis Nevatt (Mike), 67 years old, died March 14, 2021 at his home in Springfield, Missouri. He fought a long battle of vasculitis that damaged his kidneys. Mike had been on kidney dialysis for over a year. He was supported by his wife Linda and best friend Ron.

Mike was born September 5, 1953, in Springfield, Missouri, to parents Paul and Fern Nevatt. He has one sister, Sue Nevatt. Mike attended Rountree, Pershing and Glendale High Schools. He joined the United States Navy after high school. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. While stationed in San Diego he was named Sailor of the Year. Mike enjoyed being at the James River, his home away from home. He loved to make people laugh.  Every fall he enjoyed picking up walnuts, a skill he learned in his early youth on the James River. No matter what or how many disappointments he had in life, he was fortunate to be reunited in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Linda. They shared kids and family times together.

Mike is survived by his wife Linda Nevatt, and his children Tera Dawn Hatley, husband Kevin (Miami, OK); Stephanie Phillips (Oolagah, OK); Steven Nevatt, wife Angela (Claremore OK); Tara Harken (Marion, IL); and Stepdaughter Tracy Rinehimer, husband Dave (Springfield, MO); 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister Sue Nevatt, partner Susan (Springfield, MO); special friend Ron Burkhart (Springfield, MO); and many cousins and friends.
