Michael Edwin Wagner, 65, passed from life into life on September 6, 2014. Mike was born on March 31, 1949 and lived most of his life in Springfield. He knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was devoted to his family, particularly Glenda, his wife of over 30 years. Mike served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era. He spent his career in the telecommunications industry, working in both sales and engineering. Mike was a member of Gate of the Temple Masonic Lodge and Abou Ben Adhem Temple, where he was a member of the Hospital Dads Shriners unit. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, golfing, boating, cooking, bowling, throwing darts and playing trivia. Mike was well known for his gregarious, jovial personality and was always ready to share a joke. He loved entertaining his grandchildren and relished the title of "Grandpa Goofy." Mike is survived by his loving wife Glenda Wagner of Springfield, his sister Cathy Terwelp and her husband Tony of Kansas City, MO and his brother David Wagner of Lenexa, KS. He is also survived by 3 children, Trish Sherry of Fredericksburg, VA, Jason Wagner and his wife Crystal of Edmond, OK, and Darren Wagner and his wife Robin of Springfield, as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, from 6:30 to 8:00pm, and the funeral service will be held at Gorman-Scharpf on Wednesday at 10:00 am, with Pastor Ryan Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mike's favorite charity, Shriners Childrens Hospital of St. Louis, 2001 S. Lindbergh, St. Louis MO 63131-3597.
