Michael Charles Hachtel, a proud retiree of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, passed away unexpectedly February 15, 2021 at the age of 74.

Michael is preceded in death by; grandpa, Charles; brothers, Benny, Larry; daughter, Marnie; mother, Dorothy. He is survived by; sister, Kim and husband Terry; brother, David and wife Terry; daughter, Neely; son, Charles and his wife Alice; grandchildren, Victoria and husband Klayton, Lane, Gavin; great grandsons, Theo, Felix; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael Charles Hachtel was born March 19, 1946 in West Plains, Missouri. He was raised by his beloved grandpa Charles until he was 9 years old and then lived with his mother Dorothy and her husband Ben Dimond with new brothers and sister in Wichita, Kansas. Ben Dimond ended up with a Honda motorcycle shop where Mike learned to love them and even participated in flat track racing and scrambles. After marrying his first wife, he went off to school at OTC in Springfield and became an apprentice to become a plumber where he learned his lifelong trade.

Towards the end of his life, he became a devoted Christian and used his skills as a plumber to help his fellow church members who needed help. He also belonged to a men's group through his church that he truly loved to be a part of. His favorite thing to do in life was be with family and watching sports of any kind was a close second. Anyone who knew him knew that. He loved the Cardinals and had several shirts and hats to prove it. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A visitation is scheduled at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Seminole street in Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, February 25 from 5:30-7:00 pm. Please come and pay your respects if you would like.
