Michael Guthrie, 78, of Springfield, MO passed away at 3:11 PM on April 18, 2022 in Cox South Hospital. He was born December 8, 1943 in Prairie Grove, AR to Crystal and Owen Guthrie.
He was a member of the California Carpenters Union and attended the 1 st Assembly of God in Siloam Springs, AR prior to moving to Springfield in 2018. Mike grew up in California and he built a very successful construction company that he ran from 1970 until his retirement in 2017. He built homes and commercial buildings across the United States in California, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, St. Thomas USVI and Missouri.
He owned a cattle ranch for a number of years in southern California with his wife, Annie. Together, they had horses as well that Mike loved to ride. He also enjoyed hunting, mudracing and collecting antique cars.
He was an extremely generous man who loved fiercely. In his years after retirement, he took care of his two grandchildren, Freya and Ezra. He was a dedicated father and husband who will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Monte, Richard and Wayne Guthrie and sister, Vantreba Guthrie.
He is survived by his wife, Annie of Springfield; daughter, Meghan Guthrie-Baker (Ryan) of Springfield; sons Mitch, Matt, Travis and Scott Guthrie of California; grandchildren Ezra and Freya Baker of Springfield and sister, Sharon Cannon of California.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2022 in Maple Park Cemetery with Reverend Gary Wheat officiating. Family and friends may gather at Meghan and Ryan's house following the service.
