Obituary

Springfield, MO -- We say farewell to Michael Grassa, who left an indelible mark on our hearts with his warmth, spirit, and selfless nature. On June 3rd, 2023, at the age of 39, Michael embarked on his next great adventure, leaving behind a trail of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.

Born on December 30, 1983, in Allentown, PA, Michael lived his early years in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Texas. At the start of his 3rd grade year, destiny smiled upon us when he settled with his family in Springfield, MO. Here, he began to build his legacy in the town that loved him dearly.

Michael, a loving son, was the pride and joy of Patricia (Martin) Grassa and the late Edward Joseph Grassa. He shared a bond of brotherhood with his younger brother, Scott Grassa, who has been a constant source of support and companionship throughout their lives. Together, they formed a close-knit family woven with love and care, extending to their cherished relatives. Michael is survived by Aunt Sandy and her late husband Charles Simon, Aunt Marty and Uncle Mike Jones, Uncle Butch and Aunt Maria Martin, Aunt Claire and the late Gerald Sharkey, Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Eric Meduho, Uncle Henry and Aunt Donna Grassa, many cherished cousins, and let's not forget his fur baby, Kirby.

Michael graduated from Glendale High School in 2002, where he loved to play football and Young Life. He went on to study at Missouri State University where, his charismatic personality and genuine kindness drew people towards him with his unique gift—the ability to effortlessly connect with others, making them feel valued and loved in his presence.

In all aspects of his life, Michael dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his friends and family. He possessed a servant's heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer his support to those in need. His selflessness and generosity were unparalleled, and he continuously went above and beyond to make a positive impact on the lives of those he cared about.

In his free time, Michael loved the culinary arts – preparing gourmet meals for family and friends. You could often spot him at the YMCA, swinging kettlebells with his masterful Polish strength before he jetted out of town to travel the country, attending concerts of his favorite band Phish.

A true adventurer, Michael's love for the great outdoors knew no bounds. Countless hours were spent immersing himself in the beauty of Table Rock Lake, floating along the Buffalo River's gentle currents, camping amidst the rolling hills of the Ozarks, and engaging in epic battles of frisbee golf. His zest for life was simply contagious, inspiring all who crossed his path to embrace their passions and live each day to the fullest.

Michael will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Yet, as we grieve, let us celebrate his remarkable legacy—a legacy of love, kindness, friendship and selflessness. Life is a great adventure and it was a joy to experience it with him.
