Michael Stephen Gideon, a resident of Springfield, MO, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 6, 2016.  He was 64 years old.  He was born on August 13, 1951, in Forsyth, MO, to Judge Robert L. and Elma (Chaney) Gideon.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Janis Gideon, and to this union three sons were born: Bradley Gideon and his wife, Amanda, Zachary Gideon and his fiancé, Dr. Michelle Brase, and Ty Gideon. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jaxon Gideon and Payton Gideon; brothers: Bobby and his wife, Mary Lou, Wendell and his wife, Jane Anne; sisters: Marilyn Parker and her husband, John, Janet Bowlds and her husband, Don; brother-in-law: Red Ormsbee. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Johnny Gideon and sister Barbara Ormsbee.  Following his recent retirement, Michael pursued his lifelong passion of wood craftsmanship and restoration projects, the results of which he graciously shared with friends and family.  He was loved by everyone and made an impact with his selfless acts of kindness.

Michael had a contagious spirit and sense of humor that filled all with happiness and laughter. Michael loved to cook and was an avid Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan.

A visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, MO, on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  Funeral Service to celebrate Michael's life will be held directly after visitation, beginning at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at a later date in beautiful Taney County.
