Michael Byron Cummings, age 61, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at home. He was born November 26, 1951 in Springfield, MO, the son of John Byron Cummings and Norma Jean (Powell) Cummings. Mike was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in the woods as well as on the farm. He is survived by his son, Zak Cummings and wife Amy; one brother, Steve Cummings and wife Cindy; one sister, Mari Meek; and the love of his life, Marlene Robertson. Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 25 at 6pm, with funeral services to follow at 7pm, officiated by Pastor Marshall. Mike will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery by Springfield Lake, with a ceremony to honor him, on Thursday September 26 at 10am.
