Obituary

Meredith Price was born March 17, 1939 in Malden, MO to Velma Irene (Akers) Price and Roy Price. He passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in his home.  He graduated high school in 1957 and married Margaret Graham in Chicago, IL on April 4, 1958. They were married 51 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Mary Rodrigue; and his son David Price.

He is survived by two daughters: Judy (Jim) Costello and Donna (Howard) Arnold; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Price enlisted in the United Stated Air Force in July of 1958. He was deployed to Greenland, Iceland, England, Mississippi and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was stationed in Greenland while the Berlin Wall was being built and he slept on the beaches of Key West, Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged in April of 1963. Price went on to work for the defense contractor Northrop Grumman until his retirement in 2004.

Price loved his family and friends. He was a devoted husband who faithfully cared for his wife during many years of illness. He was a dear father and a tender and loving grandfather. While he lived outside of Chicago, he was famous for his day trips to the city with his grandkids. They loved when Grandpa took them to museums, parks, and parades.

Price was a generous man who quietly met the needs of those he loved and knew. He lived his life by the golden rule as his mother taught him: Treat others the way you wish to be treated. He always believed it was important to have a good 'name' and to live respectably.

Price enjoyed his retirement years in the Springfield area. He most certainly traveled every single back country road in southern Missouri over the years. He enjoyed playing Bridge, listening to bluegrass and gospel music, attending various concerts at the local universities as well as summer baseball games.

Price lived a good life, was a man of integrity and honor. He "fought the good fight" and has "finished the race." He "kept the faith."
