Melvina Ruth Johnston (Graff) born September 4, 1929 died on September 20, 2011 at the age of 82. Melvina, worked many years for the First National Bank of Joplin where she eventually served as a loan officer. She was a long time active member of Forest Park Baptist Church. Melvina loved to china paint as well as oil paint. She was preceded in death by her Father, Morris C. Graff, Mother, May Graff, three brothers, Dan Graff, Buck Graff, and Morris Graff, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Elmer C. Johnston of Springfield, MO; her daughter Beth Sappington of Diamond, MO; son, Troy Johnston of Bixby, OK; and daughter, Julie Wright also of Springfield, MO. Others include her sister, Mary Myers of Duenweg, MO, along with several nieces, nephews, 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Service will be held Monday, September 26 at 1pm at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO, and interment will be at the National Cemetery, also in Springfield, MO. Officiating the service will be their son, Troy Johnston. The family requests in place of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
