Melvin Ray Yenicheck, 66, of Springfield went to be with his Lord on August 2, 2015, due to complications from lung cancer. He is survived by his father, Junior R. Yenicheck of Springfield; sister, Carolyn Thomas (husband Rocky) of Palm Desert, CA; nephew, Bryan Cole (wife Aurelia) of McKinney, TX, and his two devoted dogs Buddy and Roscoe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel J. Yenicheck and his faithful dog Prince. He leaves many friends and cousins in the area as well. Mel graduated from Republic High School in 1966. Owner of Mel's Plumbing, he was a well-known plumber extraordinaire, whose repeat customers loved him. In 1974, Melvin moved to Los Alamitos, CA, where he opened Uniform Plumbing. In 1986, he returned to Springfield. He loved anything on wheels and had the ability to tear apart and rebuild any vehicle he chose. He enjoyed a practical joke, his dogs and NASCAR. A memorial service will be held on 2 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of service.
