IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin "Stevie"
Daniel
February 18, 1961 – December 13, 2016
Melvin S. Daniel
Sunrise: February 18, 1961
Sunset: December 13, 2016
Melvin Stevinson Daniel was born February 18, 1961 in Gary, IN to Mrs. Bessie Mae (Pugh) Daniel (deceased) and Mr. James Daniel, Sr. (deceased).
Melvin attended Brunswick Elementary School and continued his education at Westside High School both in Gary, IN. He studied two years in college in Minnesota. The only church that is known that Melvin ever claimed membership with was Indiana Apostolic Faith Church of Gary, IN. Melvin would frequently visit the church his baby brother pastors; Refuge of Love Ministry Church of God in Christ aka. (COGIC) in Springfield, MO.
Melvin has two sisters one which preceded his in death; and three brothers. Yolanda Daniel – sister (deceased), James Daniel Jr. – brother (Linda), Tina Wray –sister, Keith Daniel – brother, Terrell Daniel – brother. He has a host of nieces and nephews; Tashaunda Daniel, James Daniel III, Edwina Daniel, Nee'sha Daniel, Kakisha Daniel, Stephanie Moten (Kerry), Kenny Wray, Ty'Juania Wray, Marc Robinson, Teresa Robinson, Yolanda Daniel, Nyisha Daniel, Andre Daniel, Michael Walker, Michael, Quinton Erbe. Millicent Calhoun; Stevie loved you like his own daughter. I say to you be encourage.
Melvin was a type of person that anywhere he went he never meets a stranger; even he himself was not a stranger in the least at any place he traveled. He will be remembered best for two things; his famous saying at the end of a conversation that was deep to him or he thought he conquered. He would close it with saying, "Boom bam spam!" Then he would fall out laughing. The second thing that we will always visualize is him in his scooter. That scooter seemed to always get faster and faster; especially if it was one of those days you were trying to avoid a long conversation with him. (smile)
Melvin has admitted himself into Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, December 10, 2016. He was there for several days battling an illness that had caused him to be hospitalized on previous occasions. On the 13th, a Tuesday night, the Lord seemed it fit for "Stevie"; as he was known as by many; to end his bodily struggles. Many family members were near his bedside as he took his transition from here into eternity. Rest on my brother, rest on.
Melvin S. Daniel Homegoing service will be December 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at Refuge of Love Ministry COGIC, 518 East Atlantic Street, Springfield, MO 65803.
Melvin has a myriad of friends, great-nieces and nephews, god nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, as well as a magnitude of cousins. We will greatly miss him. but he shall always be near in our hearts.
