Maynard Otto Hansen, age 95, of Springfield, MO passed away October 14, 2015. He was born on July 11, 1920 the son of Henry and Olga Hansen in Ruskin, Nebraska. Finishing high school at age 16, he attended Dana College and University of California Berkeley. He received his Masters in Divinity from Augustana Seminary. This fulfilled his personal calling to a life of service to others in God's name. On June 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marion E. Youngquist. To this union, four children were born. He served parishes in Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota and South Dakota before retiring to Springfield in 1981. He has been a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since that time, participating in many church activities. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed keeping up with his family and the world by computer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond and recently his wife, Marion, in 2013. Maynard is survived by his son, John Hansen of California; daughters, Carol Hansen Tyson, New York, Marcia Hansen Liesch, Minnesota and Jane Hansen, Washington; five grandchildren, Anja, Lucas, Loren, Heather and Willie; great-granddaughter, Matilda; daughter-in-law, Nancie Hansen; sons-in-law, Joseph Liesch and Kevin Tyson; and niece, Linda Tallon Funeral Services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:30am with the Rev. Dan Friberg officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Friday, October 16, 2015 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
