Wester
August 25, 1919 – August 13, 2018
Maxine Lunsford Wester, age 98, of Springfield joined her heavenly Father Monday, August 13, 2018 in The Baptist Home, Ozark. She was born August 25, 1919 in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of Robison Bruce Lunsford and Tamzon Laws Lunsford. She graduated from Willard High School and Drury College. She attended Northwestern University and received her Master's degree from New York University. She taught in Springfield Public Schools for 15 years until she married Bill Wester August 8, 1956. Maxine taught piano for many years, was the pianist at Second Baptist Church for 25 years and provided music for countless funerals and weddings.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church for over 60 years. Maxine was one of three women who founded Springfield Piano Teacher's Forum, and was also a founding member of a Bible study group that still meets today.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Alma Schultz, Marjorie Foote, Annette Belline and Jo Amos; brothers, D. Wright Lunsford, Robert Lunsford and Jan Lunsford; and son-in-law, Wolfgang von Wolfseck. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Janie von Wolfseck and son, Randall Wester and his wife Mary Beth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at The Baptist Home, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at The Baptist Home.
