Mildred Maxine Myers, age 83, of Ozark, MO went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
Born March 5, 1935 in Goodman, MO, she was the youngest of ten children to Joe Williams and Lucy Long. She married Gail Myers December 23, 1951 in Elk City, KS.
Maxine was owner/operator of Penny Lane Gift Shop and Merle Norman Cosmetics in Independence, KS from 1977 to 1990. She was an active member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce and Seroptimist Club. She and husband Gail moved to Springfield, MO in 1993, where she was active in the Christian Women's Club and Gideon's Auxiliary. She was a member of River Bluff Fellowship. Maxine loved her family and brightened the lives of everyone she was around with humor, Christian compassion and beauty. She loved music and was delighted by Elvis Presley to the very end.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; and great-grandson, Dylan Archer. Maxine is survived by husband Gail Myers, Ozark, MO; daughter and son-in-law Patty and Jeff Archer, Springfield, MO; son Mike Myers, Kansas City, MO; grandson Scott Archer, Springfield, MO; granddaughter Lindsay Blashaw, Dana Point, CA; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Hillis; great-grandson Kian Archer, all of Springfield, MO; and sister Louise Swiger of Coffeyville, KS.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 in Ozark, MO River Bluff Fellowship with the Rev. Scott Watson officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Private family burial will be held in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International or The March of Dimes.
The family wishes to thank Mary Lou Remus for her care and loving support during the last two years. They also would like to thank the staff and employees of Ozark Riverview Manor.
