Obituary

Maxine Beatrice McCammon was born on August 9, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas to Ellen and Roy Glass. She attended public schools in Fargo, ND and Aberdeen, SD, graduating from Central High School in Aberdeen. She graduated from Northern State Teacher's College in 1947. She married Lewis Edward McCammon on June 2, 1948, and they were married until Lew's death in 1994. They had three children, Patrick, Michael, and Kimberly. Maxine taught school, and then devoted her attention to being a homemaker. Her family moved to Springfield in 1959, where she was active in community activities, including an art group, The Bridge Center, was an election poll worker, and a member of the Binnie Clements Guild and the Hardin Sunday School Class of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. She played duplicate bridge and was a Silver Life Master. Maxine collected antiques and especially enjoyed decorating her home for holidays, with her collection of Byers Carolers. She loved to make people laugh and smile, and was known for her sense of humor, even though she couldn't tell a joke! Her greatest pride was in her three children and four grandchildren. Survivors include Robert and Joan Glass (brother and sister in law), Sue Glass (sister in law), Herbert (Max) McCammon (brother in law), Patrick McCammon (son, Springfield), Michael and Susan McCammon (son and daughter in law, Greenville, NC), Andrew and Reagin McCammon (grandsons), Kim and Larry Bryan (daughter and son in law, Aiken, SC), Ellen and Sarah Bryan (granddaughters), and nieces and nephews. Contributions in her memory may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 E. Cherry, Springfield, MO, 65806 or to Seasons Hospice, Inc., 1831 W. Melville Rd., Springfield, MO, 65803. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 8 at 11:00 at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.
