Max Buchanan was born on October 9, 1926, and passed away November 27, 2009, following a long illness. Max was the son of William and Elsie Buchanan of Seymour, Mo., who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maryanne; daughter Melissa Forrest; and sister Dorothy Berke. Survivors include a son, Mike of Fulton, Mo.; son-in-law Gregg Forrest; and granddaughter Kiley of Springfield, Mo.; grandson Clayton George of Cleveland, Ohio; brother Erwin and wife, Lillian of Jefferson City, Mo.; sister Betty Spriggs of Marshfield, Mo.; and twin sister Maxine Range of Springfield, Mo. Max graduated from Central High School and attended Drury College. He served two years in the US. Navy during World War II. Max was a Mason and a member of Abou Ben Adem Shrine Temple. He was a long time member of Central Christian Church and in later years attended South Street Christian Church. He was a long time member of Hickory Hills Country Club. Golf was his great passion. Max was owner of Max Buchanan Co., home of the Maxi Rub Massager, until his retirement. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will follow the service and burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
