Max S. Bane, 87, of Springfield, Missouri, died January 7, 2012, at James River Care Center. He was born March 17, 1924, in Otterville, Missouri, the son of Ruth and Loran Bane. After graduating from Otterville High School in 1942, Max served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an aviation technician. Following discharge, he was employed by Southwest Bell Telephone as a linesman, installer and repeater man for 37 years until retiring in 1985. Max was a member of the Kings Way United Methodist Church. Max was a lifelong sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors through fishing and hunting. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and listened to all the games on either television or radio. Max and wife Donna attended Missouri State Lady Bear Basketball Games regularly. In addition to his dedicated and loving wife Donna (Dean) Bane, Max is survived by his children and their spouses, Cindy and Phil Lewis of Naples, Florida; Rusty Bane and Juni Fisher of Franklin, TN; Pattie and Steve Hood of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Andrew Bane of Lexington, KY; Patrick Lewis of Phoenix, AZ, Tricia Stenger of Lafayette, CA; Bryan Hood of Nixa, MO; Rachel Saffold of Ballwin, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bane was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Loren, James, and Nadine. The family would like to especially thank the staff at James River Care Center and Seasons Hospice for their devoted and loving care in Max's final days. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10th. A memorial service will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11th at 10:30 am.
