Matthew Dean Fairleigh, 62, of Springfield passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He honorably served in the Vietnam War as a combat medic. Matt was a longtime employee of Cox Medical Center North first as an E. R. Technician and lastly as a Ward Clerk. He owned the Comic Page hobby store for over 20 years. During that time he was a founding member of The Visionary Guild which hosts Visioncon, an event that celebrates the pop-culture genres of science fiction and fantasy. Matt is survived by parents Paul and Pat Fairleigh, sister Beth Fairleigh-Rainwater, brother Mark Fairleigh, former wife J.J. Fairleigh, daughters Erika and Joan Fairleigh, brother-in-law Greg Rainwater, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be on Monday, April 22, from 7 to 8pm, and funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 23, at 11am at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E Seminole, Springfield, MO. Interment will follow at 1pm at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Road in Springfield with military honors.
