Mathew "Mat" Allen Morlen, 35, of Springfield, MO passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Cox South Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1986 in Springfield to Jeffrey and Tina Morlen.

Mat was a 2004 graduate of Buffalo High School and worked jobs as a welder, landscaper and fence builder. In the summer of 2010, he met Tara (Ali) Whorton, and the two married on December 28, 2013.

Throughout his lifetime, he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and being in nature. He was also the most creative and talented artist. He could paint or draw anything. Mat was a wonderful son, brother, husband and uncle. He had the ability to brighten anyone's day with his smile and personality. He would give the shirt off his back and help anyone in need at the drop of a hat. He truly was one-in-a-million!

Mat was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Marlen; grandmother, Janice Scrivener; father, Jeffrey Morlen and mother, Tina Morlen.

Mat is survived by his wife, Ali; brother, Brandon (Ange); uncle, Mark (Sheila); his in-laws and multiple cousins, nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Friday, August 27 at 10:00 AM at Brookline Cemetery.
